Burns Night Supper at Blackfriars in Newcastle, Friday 21st January 2022

For diners luckily enough to have snapped up a ticket to the SOLD OUT Burns Night at Blackfriars in Newcastle, you were welcomed with a ‘wee dram’ of Tenjaku to start the night as it was meant to go on! This was a ‘red herring’! Did you notice the difference between a Japanese whisky and a Scotch?

Blackfriars annual traditional Burns Night Supper featured all the usual elements of a night with the great Scottish poet and romanticist including the Selkirk Grace, address to and cutting of the haggis before a supper of traditional Cock-a-Leekie soup, Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, Cranachan and Cheese. A dram of whisky was served at each course and to accompany the odd toast and Burns’ poem, putting people in good voice for our own rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
